Encouraging site visitors to participate and providing a way for site visitors to view the organization's site the way they want to see it.

Site visitors will be encouraged to register as a participant of the organization' site by completing an online profile, thus giving them the opportunity to customize the way the site is presented to them.  Specifically, registered participants can define the type of calendar events and news topics that interest them so when they view the home page of the community network site, the events and news that interest them are highlighted.

Other benefits of being a registered member include being able to sign up for training classes, participate in online surveys and receive e-mail notifications of events that interest them prior to the event date. If the optional chat and discussion group applications are integrated, the participant will be able to enlist in appropriate chat rooms, discussion groups, and e-mail lists. 

The site administrator can further define groups, and place members in groups, to assign access control rules, limiting author and access rights to private sections or pages of the site.
